The volume was 20.6% higher compared to shipped in December last year.

Compared to January 2012, Brazil exported 297.8% or 2.54 million tonnes more of corn.

The expectation of the National Supply Company (Conab) for this year is to be shipped 15.0 million tons of grain.

Accumulated in the last year, Brazilian exports totaled 19.79 million tons of corn, 108.0% more than in 2011.

With crop failure in the United States, the major maize importers increased purchases in Brazil.

Japan, the world's largest grain importer, bought 3.04 million tons of Brazilian products in 2012. It was our primary customer. Following appears Iran, with 2.96 million tons imported, and South Korea, with 2.58 million tons.

Even the United States bought corn from Brazil. 726,630 tons were imported last year.
